Chris Calvert, NCPT
Chris has a passion for life and a passion for Pilates. She completed the 600-hour comprehensive training program of Power Pilates NYC.
After practicing the Pilates Method for years, Chris realized that that the passion building within her for movement in an effort to stay fit, strong and flexible as the body was aging also was leading her to the world of sharing that passion with others.
Chris continues to challenge herself and hence her clients with a deeper working knowledge and understanding of classical Pilates. She studies weekly with Raleigh area teacher Stacie Dombrowski, and completed the Advanced Teachers Program with Dana Santi in 2018. Seeking to enrich her knowledge about Jospeh Pilates’ Method of Contrology, she has attended workshops with well respected teachers and masters Kathi Ross-Nash, Bob Liekens, Benjamin Degenhardt, Karen Frischmann, Andrea Maida, Dana Santi, Clare Dunphy Hemani and Aubrey Johnson. While traveling, Chris has taken opportunities to study with other knowledgeable teachers, such as Dena Drotar (formerly of Vintage Pilates, Los Angeles) and Gaia Faggiani (Gaia Pilates Roma).
Chris graduated with an A.B. from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC with concentrations in art and business. Chris lived and worked in the Maryland and Northern Virginia area for 25 years, and finished her Washington, DC career working for one of the Justices at the Supreme Court of the United States. She moved back to Raleigh in 2014 with her husband John. Together, they restored, renovated and added onto their 1920s Craftsman bungalow in Historic Oakwood in Raleigh. The addition to the house includes the in-home studio, Pilates on Pace. In addition to teaching the Pilates Method, Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking and reading.
